UPDATES ON THE CANYON ACRES KIDS

A special thank you to all our supporters who helped make the holidays brighter for the Canyon Acres children.  The kids enjoyed many fun parties, a visit from Santa, and presents on Christmas morning. 

The kids that participate in our After-School Treatment Program receive individualized care and participate in recreational therapy, art therapy, group therapy, and other mental health-based activities including Canyon Acres' accredited Therapeutic Horse Riding Program.

In our Theraoeutic Horse Riding Program, with the help of the horses, the kids are able to build self-confidence and self-awareness through their success.  The horses provide a sense of acceptance, reassurance, and stability.  Through their interations with the horses, the kids are able to learn and understand how the horse responds to verbal and non-verbal signals.  The program staff, volunteers, and horses teach the kids skills they can apply to their every day situations.
